Varanasi & Sarnath – where Buddha gave his first sermon after enlightenment.
Sravasti – where he spent 24 rainy seasons and performed many miracles.
Lumbini (Nepal) – his birthplace, marked by the sacred Maya Devi Temple.
Kushinagar – where the Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana.
Vaishali – where he announced his approaching death.
Bodhgaya – the heart of this pilgrimage, where under the Bodhi Tree, he attained enlightenment.
Rajgir & Nalanda – sites of his early teachings and the world’s oldest Buddhist university.

Your 9 days program

Arrival at Varanasi at 1115Hrs, meeting & greetings then transfer to hotel. Afternoon Visit Sarnath Museum & Dhamek Stupa – marks the precise location where the Buddha preached his first discourse to his first five disciples, and where all five eventually became fully liberated.
Overnight stay at Hotel, Varanasi

Early morning Sunrise & Boat ride at river Ganges. Return to hotel for B’Fast then drive to Sravasti. On arrival transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit Jetavana Vihara – The Jetavana Vihara, named after the Sravasti’s prince Prasenjeet who donated this park to the Sangha, is the holy place where the Buddha stayed for 24 years in Sravasti. Inside the Vihara, one of the most beautiful spots is the Anandabodhi tree, which grew up as a branch of the Sri Lankan Bodhi tree, a sampling of the original Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya. Besides, the ruins of Anandakuti and Gandhakuti, where the Buddha used to stay in the Vihara is another sacred place. Monasteries – There are a number of monasteries nearby Jetvana Vihara such as Sri Lankan, Chinese, Myanmarese or Burmese and Thai monasteries and temples, which perform meditation and other Buddhist practices. Nearby these monasteries is a beautiful park, which owns a large bell donated by the Japanese pilgrims. Mahet – Once a fortified city in the ancient period, Mahet is situated in the north of Jetavana. The ruins of Mahet include two stupas, one of which is believed to be that of Angulimala, the cruel dacoit, who converted into Buddhism, influenced by the Buddha’s teachings. His stupa is known as Pakki Kuti, while the one, which is believed to be that of Sudatta, Buddha’s disciple is known as Kachchi Kuti.

Breakfast at hotel. Later drive to Lumbini, Nepal. It was there that the Buddha was born.  On arrival visit Kapilvastu (Nepal Side) & Vietnamese Temple.

Breakfast at hotel then visit Maya Devi Temple: This temple is supposed to be dedicated to Maya Devi, who is Buddha’s mother, which seems natural as Lumbini in famed as the birth place of Buddha. The temple was built during the 2nd century. Ashoka Pillar: built in the year 259BC, this pillar was built by King Ashok, who was Buddhist. When he constructed this pillar, the King exempted the villagers from paying tax and gave out 100 golden coins to the people. In the seventh century, the pillar was struck by lightning and split into two parts. The site was lost for six centuries and covered with dense forest before being re found in 1895. Kapilvastu (Nepal Side).
Dinner & overnight stay at Lumbini.

Afternoon drive to Kushinagar. Kushinagar is the place that the Buddha chose for his Mahaparinirvana, or final exit from this earth. On arrival transfer to hotel. After lunch visit the Rambhar Stupa that marks Buddha’s cremation ground. Visit Mahaparinirvana Temple. The statue of the reclining Buddha is inside the Parinirvana Temple. The statue is 6.10 meters long and is made of a single block of red sandstone. It represents the Buddha in the position he was in when he died and attained parinirvana — reclining on his right side with his head to the north, feet to the south, and face towards the west. It is situated on a large brick platform with stone posts at the corners.

Breakfast at Hotel, and drive to Vaishali – It was here that the Buddha announced the approaching of his Mahaparinirvana. Mention of the great King ‘Vishal, who administered over this place, was found in the epic story of Ramayana. On arrival transfer to hotel for lunch and after lunch visit Ananda Stupa, Relics Stupa and Ashokan Pillar – the magnificent Ashokan pillar with a lion adorning its top is a definite crowd-puller. This 18.3 m high pillar is made of a single piece of red sandstone and is a major attraction to the tourists. Drive to Bodhgaya. On arrival transfer to hotel Overnight stay at Hotel, Bodhgaya

Breakfast at hotel then visit Mahabodhi Temple – built by Ashoka the Great in 3rd Century BC. One can also visit the Sacred Bodhi tree. Here under the Bodhi Tree, Shakyamuni Gautama attained supreme knowledge to become Buddha, “the Enlightened one” the profounder of one of the great religious of the world. River Niranjana in which the Buddha bathed after attaining enlighten flows quietly outside the tiny hamlet. Also visit Dungeshwari Caves & Sujata House a temple dedicated to a Uruvela tribeswoman who offered food to the starving Siddhartha. The neighboring purlieu and the shrine itself evoke a sense of sanctity, not to be missed, Niranjana River.

Breakfast at hotel then drive to Rajgir. On arrival visit Griddhakuta, the strange rock protrusion resembling a vulture’s Peak probably gave the hill its name. Venuvana Vihara- Site of the monastery Venuvana Vihara built by king Bimbisara for Lord Buddha to reside. This was the king’s first offering to Lord Buddha. Afternoon visit Nalanda, visit Nalanda – the world’s oldest university founded in the 5th century. The Institute for research into Buddhism and Pali literature which houses rare manuscripts is also worth visiting for the enthusiasts.
Overnight stay at hotel, Rajgir

Breakfast at hotel then free at leisure. In-time drive to Patna, on arrival drop at Patna airport to connect for flight for onward Journey.
